Hi,
How do i greet (give a message on 0th channel,welcome AV name..to xyz island..),when an AV enters the island..
Kindly let me know the script which is to be written...

Kindly let me know the script which is to be written...

Hi Vinod,

If you want to try and create a script to do this you will need 2 things

a) a Sensor of some kind to detect the Avatar arriving, this could be a scanner, an invisible prim set up as a beam or a touch sensitive welcome mat placed in the TP arrival zone if you have one.
b) You will need to keep a list of people that have been greeted already to avoid spamming the same person over and over as rather than welcoming it can be come annoying and drive people away.

another consideration is the size of the island and all the possible arrival zones, as the maximum range of a scanner is 96 meters.

Hop over to the Wiki and look at the llDetected Functions and the List data type.
the greeting is easy, just use llSay or llInstantMessage and they are also well documented in the wiki.

You can also have a look in the script library forum and the wiki library for simple greeter or scanner scripts to get you started.

you have the choice of 2 wiki's

is the official one and also

which others prefer.
