Is there any way to check if my friends are online from the web, without having to log into SL to find out?

Ok cool. I don't have any friends right now, so I cant see what it looks like yet. Is it possible to go directly to your friend by clicking on a link? There are secondlife:// links to goto places, but what about people?

This is built into the client. You can look at a friend's profile, click on "show on map" and see where they are in the world. I would suggest not tping in without saying "hi" first unless you are really close though. You never know what they might be doing and sometimes people get a little annoyed with people dropping in on them unannounced.

Hmm... well I suppose you could wear an attachement that sent info to the website periodically with your current location.

just for online/offline status doesn't need to be an attachment, though in an attachment you can have it send location too :D. . . check out this essay/tutorial

hey good link. I'm a php developer getting into SL and I'm liking the relative simplicity of LSL. One thought last night was to find a way to insta-teleport from the web to the location of someone else.
