So after what felt like hundreds of hours of hair pulling, I think my new skin is finally almost sorta ready for prime time. This was my first attempt at something like this, and I actually thought it was going to be easy. Haha! The hardest parts were the ones I thought would be the easiest. like the arms and shoulders in particuilar. There are still probably a hundred flaws, but I haveto pick some point to say "good enough" or else I'll be working on it the rest of my life. Overall I'm pretty happy with it, and I hope to have it ready for sale in a week or two. Any comments and criticisms are more than welcome.

Thanks for looking :)

It's going to be hard to critique from that photo. Go ahead and post a url for demo versions when they are available and I'll offer feedback.

From the photos it looks very nice, but trying on a demo would be the best way to offer feedback.

From what I can see, it's looking very good. A dreamy face, you've struck a good balance with regards facial make-up, shading on the front of the torso (the knees, breasts, tanline and abdominal area all notable) is fantastic; difficult to judge the back though without seeing a better pic or trying a demo.

I know what you mean about the arms. One of my big gripes with the SL avatar is the placement of the seams on the arms.

Thanks, thats a good idea to set up a demo vendor. I've been so focused on the actual painting that I havent even begun to work out details on the selling end of it, like making demos and figuring out how I will organize the skin sets and marketing and all that.

I will try to get some demos out there as soon as I can. It might just be a couple of the tones for now, just so whoever wants to can get a decent look at them.

In the meantime, here is a shot of the different tones with the two makeups I have so far. Theyre a little outdated because I've tweaked the eyes a little bit over the weekend.

The tones are, respectively, Vanilla, Cream, Honey, Caramel, Cinnamon, and Cocoa.

Thank you all for your comments :) Ive been trying to set up a demo vendor for the last couple of days but I've been having trouble uploading textures. Hopefully, I'll be able to set it up tonight.

Thank you so much, Sunni and Sweetly! :) I'm really glad you like them. I do hope you'll try them out. I've finally gotten a test vendor set up, so demos are available.

http://slurl.com/secondlife/Boudoir%20Isle/107/121/601

There is a small sampling of demos in the various skintones and makeups . (I had some technical troubles with the pale tone, Vanilla, so I had to leave it out for now) The demos come in both a no makeup, and a heavy eyeshadow version. The Honey tone has a few more styles of makeup that i havent adjusted for the other skintones yet.

I'd love any feedback, and i have a pretty thick skin about these things, so please leave comments, either in-world or here.

Thanks :)

* the test vendor is just a temporary setup for selling the testing demos, so don't save the location. When theyre done, I'll be selling them out of the Battered Boudoir on Boudoir Island

*** I just got a message that the slurl takes you to the ground level instead of the skybox where the demos are. I dont know why its doing that, but if you wind up at a Gypsy wagon, you'll need to fly straight up 600 meters to find the skybox. Sorry for the inconvenience. I'll look into this in the evening when I get into SL.

I want to thank everybody who took the time out to test my pre-release demos. Your comments and feedback were invaluable to me and really made a difference in the finished product. As a result of having many pairs of fresh eyes examine the skin, I was able to go back and redo the whole back, clean up many seam problems, fix the color of the girliebits, and many other small tweaks and adjustments, and now I am pretty confident that Mellie is as good as I am able to make her.

So, thank you, once again. I would like to personally respond to everyone who took part, but I've been extremely overwhelmed with trying to finish the skins up. So, Mellie skins are now available for sale. Please see my ad in the classifieds for store details.
