The 'depth' option in the new snapshot dialog gives us enough data to fake focus effects in snapshots. The attached snaps use this data as an alpha mask to simply cross-fade between raw and blurred versions of the corresponding 'color' data -- other, harder approaches to the same problem are possible but I found this simple and pleasing enough.

That's brilliant, Hello. That looks so great!
Love the Robbie one especially; in true Silent Hill form, the weird scary thing closest to the camera that one would -- for one's own sense of self-preservation at the very least -- most WANT to be sharp and clear is nicely blurred. <3 |
