These pictues are of the RUCE 2 sim, which I recently completed for Rutgers University. It is a detailed re-creation of their "Old Queens" campus, which is in New Brunswick, NJ.

Main entry drive, SE corner of the sim.

Main gate, SE corner of the sim.

Entering the campus. Kirkpatrick Chapel is to the right, their first school house, the "Old Queens" school building is straight ahead.

Interior of Kirkpatrick Chapel - View from entry, facing altar. Has more seating capacity than a sim allows... Stage is usable for performances.

Well done! How much time do you have into it?

I worked about 9 months, at an average of 15 hours a week, to build that sim. Just over 10,000 prims, and countless custom-made textures.

Well done mate.. Looks to me as if you succeeded in recreating the look and feel of an old uni beautifully.

Did you know or see this place for real? Or do it from a brief and pictures? I would guess the former.

Outstanding!

Believe it or not, I've never set foot on the real campus. I was working from a hundred or so photographs, one satellite aerial photo from Mapquest, and the lucky find of a set of Blueprints of the central "Old Queens" building, that I found at the Library of Congress website while doing research for the project.

The fellow that hired me did one "walk around" of the site with a digital camera, and tried to at least get me one clear pic of each side of each building. On average I have maybe 12 to 15 exterior pics of each main building. It was supposed to be enough info for me to bid on the project, but turned out to be all he could get me for most of the duration of the project, due to his having car problems.

I got several very nice interior pics of the chapel from their website, as they are rightfully very proud of that beautiful place and promote it as a venue for weddings and musical performances.

The man that hired me later managed to get me one more batch of interior pics of the Old Queens building itself, primarily for the changes that had been made since the LOC blueprints were made in 1975 (when the site went into the National Registry of historic places).

But for Geology, Winants and Van Nest, I had to infer the interior layout from what little I could see through windows in the exterior photos, and from general knowledge of the function of the buildings. Fortunately, for those, all they wanted was functional staff office spaces inside.

According to students and staff who have been on the site repeatedly and recently, I still managed to produce an incredibly accurate rendition of the site. The staff was also quite pleased with the results.

This is one of 4 sims I am doing for them. Also completed is RUCE 3, which is their football stadium. They use that as their sandbox sim and competition field for SL building and scripting competitions. I am building an Orientation sim for them now in RUCE 1, and later will build RUCE 4 into classrooms, a student recreation center, and a campus store.

Ceera

Outstanding work. I used to live about 20 min from the New Brunswick campus.
