This isn't a screeshot but an illustration based on the book Snow Crash. It makes me grin because every time I fly around in SL and run face first into a giant billboard I can't help but think of the franchise ghettos from the book. Second Life immitates art.

i've been looking forward to it. i find it exciting to think of SL growing to this point.. BUT, only in certain areas. just like i fully expect there to be areas that are all massive artistic communities.. and the hovering cities.. and amazing parks with unnatural wonders.

as i've said before.. SL is very very young.. we're still collecting star-dust. our world is still forming and evolving. there will be places in SL that are adver-ghettos with aggressive display techniques and some shady AV hanging back in the shadows of an alley.

..but there will also be places of wonder and beauty that defy the physical nature of Earth. somewhere for everyone.

..um, sorry.. guess i've been getting a little ramped about this lately. SL is invigorating sometimes.. sorry to ramble. heheh..

I know it's out there, I just recently had the expericence to drop by universal studios in orlando FLA near where I live and got to check out Shrek-4D and I can safely say the future of computer animatiion and video gaming-mmorpg-virtual living is gonna be huge in the next 10 years, I allready can predict without a doubt that by 2010 we will have fully interactive enviornments with fully interactive gestures and avatars that mimmick facial expressions if not duplicate to a fine standard with motion capture.

By the year 2020 ugly people will be ugly again even online and you will be able to tell a woman from a man due to dna fingerprinting on all virtual hardware interface devices making online dating much easier.
