I think a lot has to do with the care one puts into a building project. As you get more and more people on SL, a lot of them won't take the time needed to put up something real nice and just slap up any old thing and say look what I built. Good building takes thought and planning before hand and one must really care about the project to make it come out nice.

Second Life is moving into the mainstream these days, with a hugely growing population and expanding demand for everything from clothes to bars...
In a world where you have thousands and thousand s of people you have to be realistic; not everything will be painted by Michaelangelo. You need some suburbs and ordinary houses to house the masses as well as your art galleries and fine architectural buildings. Don't mourn the fact that the percentage of buildings that are fine art is getting slightly less. If SL was all fancy buildings with nothing for the masses to live in, the money to support Linden Labs would not be there, and there'd be no fine art. |

I remember the first time I blundered into Eddie Escher's domain. It was my second day, and I'd spent literally 15 hours upon sign-up the day/night before, wandering the sims with my little avie jaw agape.
Just when I thought I'd seen it all, I find Eddie's work. I spent half a day on his property, IIRC. - yoshi |
