Third attempt at "building"

Lately, I've been off and on SL. My room-mate has been trying to keep me interested in it though. A couple nights ago, I decided to open up the object editor again and give it a go. What I came up with was a small urban environment - which to me doesn't look like much yet.

This is about 5 hours worth of work on my part, which includes the small amount of time in Gimp (My favorite image editing tool until I can afford photoshop.) And it's still unfinished. I'm just going to call it a night and leave it as-is until I attempt to finish it tomorrow.

I only wish I had taken snapshots of my original builds so I can see how much I've improved, which from what I remember is quite a bit.

That's really good for a third attempt. I've been building this and that for a couple weeks now and my stuff is still very crude.

Good job Cinyth!

I especially like the little shop with the green awning. It looks tucked away down a small alley. Lots of charm.

Thank you for the compliments. That helps me know I'm going in the right direction with this mini-project. Also thanks for pointing out how the yellow building, Salazar - I hadn't meant to have it tucked so far back, the plot of land that I'm building on is fairly small, I think I like how that looks now.

I thought there might be an easier way to align textures! Due to the awkward shape of the far right building, I had to use multiple prims for the floor. This made it difficult to align the texture properly. Does anyone know of any better ways to align textures other than to align it by number and *very* small increments in numbers?

Anyway, here's what I've worked on today. Mostly adding details. Let me know what you think. Thanks again for all of your kind words!
