I been working with local lighting on SL some more now that I have a better card. Found out that if your careful you can do some very nice environmental lighting with it. Also found a way to make decorative lighting objects that cast no light themselves by making the zero prim black. This helps a lot to control the amount of lighting in the area. You can have lots of lights without blinding the whole area with light pollution.
Here are two pictures I took on Aasim in Realities End. This is a sim that I did the lighting effects on. It seemed to turn out pretty good. They have not been altared in any way from the original capture

Oh. like most games with nightime scenes these prictures are probably best viewed full screen with dim room lights.

*bump* yeah the local lighting really makes realities end (2.0) look much better than i could ever do alone =) plus the zero face black helped make my sword not a shining beacon for aliens outside our solar system! (but still obviously a light  )
