Anyone else notice their AV doing weird mid-air splits, odd yoga positions and even... goose-stepping?

Just a few pics of my AV behaving badly.

(Apologies in advance if this is a long-standing bug that this newbie has come across for the first time :)

Yup - it is...

Sometimes it just happens. I've had it suddenly for no obvious reason, and immediately I log in too. In 1.6 as well as 1.7, and doubtless it'll happen in 1.7b (sorry, 1.8) too.

Watch out for the 'arm malfunction' which can happen building - can be embarrassing as you can't see it, but everyone else can. You can spend hours wandering about apparently giving a Nazi salute - combined with the 'goose step' this could get you into trouble. :D

My AV has just recently began to have epileptic seizures. Out of the blue, just drops to the ground and starts flailing away. Uproariously funny.

i've seen people's avis bend over with their head up their butt. no animation, it just happens for a split second, and then goes back to normal. quite funny!

If we can see someone doing it, what action do we advise them to take in order to stop?

I think the splits/legs goin' all funky thing depends on what sort of ground/slope you're standing on, I notice it mostly when standing next to a hill or wall or steps... Patroklus, notice on your screenshots how it happens as you're standing right along the edge where flat-prims meet the slope of the landscape.

Also yes, the one that bugs me the most is the seizure/twitching that happens, usually as I'm sitting down or editing something... Oh, that and when I go to edit something and instead of stretching my hand out, I reach through myself and have a hand shooting edit-particles sticking out of my armpit, that's always fun-looking...

Oh yeah, been there several times. Haven't seen this recently, but for a while there on SL, the "who turned out the lights and what's that smell?" syndrome was pretty common. LOL

I can consistently reproduce this bug by setting the date on my computer back a few years.

LOL. "There are no bugs... only features."

As silly as this sounds, I cannot count the times I've reported a major bug and been told it's a "feature". The most recent was when several merchants in our area found their "permissions" on their products had been set to mod/copy. When this was reported to LL as a major problem, the basic answer we got:

"Are you folks sure you know how permissions work? Second Life keeps track of individual permissions on each prim in an object. It's a feature we have taken great care to implement."

No, I don't know how permissions work; I'm only the founder of the Builders Guild and creator of three sims. I own ElvenWorks merchanting. I'm clueless regarding permissions. So are the other major merchants at ElvenGlen.

All I know is when I have an object in inventory and it shows "nomod/nocopy/trans" as the permissions... that is exactly what I expect it to be when I drag it to ground. That is exactly what I expect it to be when I transfer it to another user.

When I drag it to ground and it suddenly reads "mod/copy/trans/allow anyone to copy/share with group"... I don't really consider that a "feature". And when I set an item to nomod/nocopy/trans and take it into my inventory, then drag it to ground a few days later and find it's been set to mod/copy... I don't consider that a "feature". When I create a linked object and set the entire object to "nomod/nocopy/trans"... I expect every single prim in that object to be set to the same perms... not for individual prims to retain their own separate perms. Such a concept is a bug, not a "feature". And if it's an intentional "feature", then folks, it's a bad feature.

Someone really needs to get their heads together and correct some of these "features". Because several of them are viscious and have been around for a long, long time.

Oh, sorry, off-topic. It just came out sudden like. Must be one of my "features". :D

OMG YOU CAN DO THAT?

Seriously Ushu, Kona Linden and I once had a chat in Preview 1.6 after this happened for some reason to me... and LL Quality Assurance has been looking for a reproduction. Have you already filed a bug report?

I'd like to do this at will too, instructions please? :)

all of this should be referred to the Ministry of Silly Walks.

also, there is a pose for sale in Pirate's Cove to put your head up your ass. it's not mine or anything, but hey, it's relevant. :)

I love the "arm stuck in the air" after building bug! its my favorite..

Whenever I see an avatar like that.. I stop my conversation, and ask them if they had a question.. or if somone replaced thier deodorant with MACE.. heh .. heh..

Also.. an interesting glitch i found.. stand on the edge between two prims on a prim floor... press and hold pagedown.. and take one step foward.. your avi starts spazzing.. littereally porting back and forth.. it will grow wider and wider untill you're porting about 5-10 meters each time... fun at parties, amaze your friends!

Speaking of wierd animation glitches.. I once logged out while dancing on my sister's chimmy... for the next two days.. whenever her avi came near mine, i started dancing.. I initially accused her of posessing my avatar with the spirit of the lord of the dance..
eventually, however, i realized, if I had my chimmy on.. and danced on hers.. and then logged out.. my own chimmy got stuck doing her dances whenever she was near..... I think our chimmys were communicating! 0.o

Eek, it happened to me!

Anyone still experiencing the "head up the butt" problem? It just started happening to me tonight (although those who know me may tell you otherwise).

;)

I also just noticed strange shadows that don't match any objects as far as I can tell, and I don't have shadows enabled, so maybe that's part of the same glitch.
