This is my first installment in Growables, I'm planning to make prettier models and port the whole concept to more classic buildings and houses. The concept is of a tree that you make grow by clicking on its summit and branches and pushing buttons to control its growth. Here's how it looks like when fairly advanced: http://jesrad.free.fr/tree_001.jpgThen you right-click on the end of a branch, it pops a menu: http://jesrad.free.fr/tree_002.jpgI've selected GROW in this example, so the branch, well, grows: http://jesrad.free.fr/tree_003.jpgYou can edit the parts as you grow your tree, of course, like reorienting the ends of branches or of the bark to suit what you envision. If people are interested in this thing I'll make it into a package to distribute freely, I'll see if Astary Pendragon can find a place for it in Darkwood.

As you can see from the first picture, it's not very good-looking right now, so I'll work on a better version before I release it. It's exam period, the last exams of my life, and I don't want to ruin it, so you'll have to wait until next week.

I'll be demonstrating it in Montmartre island in a few minutes, if you want to see how it blooms

I've got a plot for it in Darkwood It'll overhang the Darkwood Fish Preserve. Perfect for lounging under when you just want to 'fish' but not really catch anything. Amazing looking! L8r, UU

Way cool, Jasrad. I've been waiting for someone to invent something like this ! Holy cow Jesrad! This is awesome! I would be happy to give you all of my bark and leaf textures for it! I would also love to make a spot for you to display it on Kumori or Amaterasu =) Just contact me in-world if you're interested! P.S. I want one either way! hehehe

As someone who's built my own Large Tree, I am totally blown away by this. What an amazing building concept.

Thanks everyone, glad you like it From: Higbee Protagonist I would be happy to give you all of my bark and leaf textures for it! Right now I'm not pleased with how it looks and I'm rummaging the 'net to find decent foliage textures ... in vain :/ Just let me some time to make a version 2 that is more capable and stable. [Edit] Oh, err, it's easy to control the growth with a script too (though you only get symmetrical results then) so I'll make a quick "Seed" thing that grow a new tree every two minutes for display purpose. I'll drop it in your inventory when it's done and tested. [Edit2] Dammit, scripts CANNOT control the tree, only the owner can Ah well, this will be in next version.

Please detail, I can use all the inspiration you throw at me !
BTW I laid out plans for the v2, it'll be easy to adapt to any piece of architecture/biotecture you drop the scripts in, it'll make the branches grow in width as they grow in length (and will scale the leaves and other smaller branches as well !), it'll have automatic reorientation of leaves so they face upwards (and not sideways like half the time in current version), will have a simpler and more precise menu, and will let one move the whole branches instead of one element at a time for easier edition of the tree.
Also, it'll support different symmetries. Pentagonal/hexagonal houses that build themselves from the ground ? How does it sound ?

Well, it's done, the version 2 is completed (apart for the seasonal colouring, but I'll add that soon) and one of the three models is on display in DarkWood, by the North East corner thanks to Forcythia Wishbringer

Siobhan, there's a number of bugs in the ones I gave you, we worked them out with Forcythia, but there's still one I cannot fix for the moment (design flaw in LSL permission system) so I'll get back to you when I've got a workaround.
You can still use them though, you have to reset the script of "branch" (and give it an updated copy of itself) and branchlet. Don't try the autotree or you'll be flooded with permission errors.

OK, they're done. I added seasonal color fading and a menu on the automatic tree makers. I dont' think I can improve them anymore now. The permissions are fixed, there is no more limit on growth (but it'll take a lot of clicking to fill a parcel).
Here's how it looks like now, going from "Summer" to "Winter":

oh yes.... ha
well having planted 000s of trees and also built a flowing GIANT bonsai shaped tree in tehama with kind help of Kelwyn Gallant, Higbee Protagonist and Rose Karuna, I can only say wow what a gr8 idea!! First we get amazing particle trees, then Khamon does seasonal trees and now we have generated tree making program.
I wish to have one in Tehama, wonderful, please contact me. I salute your imagination and skill
