Let's say you're a model, and you're entering a model search, applying to an agency or magazine, etcetera. You're filling out the form and you run across the line that says, "Extreme post-processing is frowned upon."

Well... this is an example of what they mean:

I'm getting to the point where I really am starting to dislike altered pics of SL in certain cases. Along with many others who have entered contests and been disappointed with the outcome, I've seen that all the winners of contests I have seen have done extreme photoshopping to their entries. Besides the fact that I do not have any photo altering programs, I rather like raw pics of SL over the ones that have been overcooked so to speak with bling and glitter. Alot of people cannot afford hundreds of dollas for fancy schmancy programs either and I think that places that do have contests need to take into consideration and keep it an even playing field so that no altering is allowed.

For example, the last contest I entered, I took some really nice pics that were intended to focus more on the item we were to be 'modeling', as alot of ads I see seem to focus on the av and other things that aren't even being sold by the ad. People entered their pics and they were displayed for all to see. I remember going to the display and looking at my 'competition' and seeing that around 70% of the entries had been photoshopped to hell. I also saw some very nice raw pics and thought to myself that even though their pics were very nice along with mine, sadly none of us really had a chance. I decided to make a little bet with myself and chose in my own mind who I thought would end up winning due to their fancy skills. In the end, the winners all had altered pics. Even though most were so overly done that you couldn't even focus on the item being modeled.

I do enjoy some altered pics as I have friends who can do wonders with their pc skills, but I think there is a time and place for that such as profile, artsy pics. When it comes to certain contests, there needs to be limit as to what will be accepted just so that it is fair to everyone.

It looks like a couple of filters were used maybe. Not sure what is extreme about photoshop anymore. Maybe some of the 3D stuff in cs3 but really that's a little late to the party.
