The Artist
Lynda Robinson is a self-taught Australian artist and has been drawing and painting since childhood. She feels her main strength lies in her drawing ability and since taking up art seriously in 1985 she has won numerous awards. Although she has experimented with other mediums, pastel has emerged as her favourite. She enjoys the vibrancy, versatility and immediacy of pastel and the effects that can be achieved by blending colours together and ‘scumbling’ one colour over the other.
Lynda is unrestricted regarding her subject matter and ‘sees’ paintings all around her. She makes field trips to obtain inspiration, and works from her studio at 'Wickham', close to Seymour, Victoria, Australia. She draws inspiration from observation of the way light interacts with something as simple as a few gum leaves, the sharp contrasts of light and shade falling on a tree or the dramatic cloud effects in a sky. One of her favourite subjects is water and a source of constant inspiration is the Goulburn River which flows through Seymour, and the Sunday Creek and Sugarloaf Creek close to her home. Her subjects are varied, ranging from animals, landscapes, figurative, portraiture, life drawing and still life.
Lynda is a life member of the Seymour Art Society, a member of The Australian Guild of Realist Artists, a member of Heathcote Artists Inc. and a member of the Mitchell Shire Arts Advisory Committee. Her work is held in private and corporate collections both in Australia and overseas.
