Well, Barnes had to go and beat me to the punch with his incredible, amazing and oh so Frankie-esque house thingy. Oh bloody hell, he stole my thunder, but I'm gonna post mine anyway. Am I pathetically desperate for compliments, or what?! hehe

PS: I wanna publicly thank and acknowledge my buddy, Troy Vogel, for all of his expert help in engineering the bizarro hip-and-gable roof that I envisioned. You're absolutely fabulous. :D

Who am I to not help out a friend in need... I am here for you my friend!!!

I loved that thingy you did in the front Paolo.

That is absolutely amazing that you were able to somehow do that other thingy in the back.

And that… you know… on the first floor… woooah… freaky man. I have never seen anything like that.

Of course, I couldn’t not comment about that fantastic whatchamacall it in the corner. I mean… Howd you do that?

And what you did in that “special” room… what can be said about that? WOW!!!

Glad I could help ya out bro. You know ya can count on ole Billy to be there for ya! hehe

It looks pretty nice, but my overall feeling is "box with textures on it"

Why is the roof two different colors? It kind of breaks up the shape.

Um, doesn't that describe pretty much every build in SL? :p

As for the roof, the hip-and-gable sections are supposed to be copper overlays. The green sections are shingles. This design is loosely based on some actual brownstones in Chicago.

It describes many of them, but most of my favorite builds use textures to accentuate the structure, not to define it.

Ah, sorry. I guess I couldn't grasp that from the pictures. It probably shows up better in person. :)

I hear ya. There are actually more prim-based accents/elements on the build than may be evident in these photos. However, it truly became a conservation-of-prims balancing act. I had to fudge a number of effects via textures, though I would have preferred to use prims.

Anyhoo, it was my first "house" attempt in SL and I kinda like it. ;)

Nice work Paolo! Very stately. You need some nice English gardens around it. And a few hot pool boys. ;)

Oi vey, I haven't even begun the landscape design. :D I think that'll have to wait until LL ups our prim allocation. But, I feel quite certain that I can oblige you with regard to the cabana boys. hehe

Come on Marcos... Get with the program. Paolo was pimping for compliments... not actual constructive opinions. What's wrong with you man?

Im with Juro on this one. I would come over more often :D

Mahcos cant be pleased, dont listen to him. :p I know from experiance ;)

Its very nice, you are right the pictures dont do it alot of justice, I usualy am not a fan of heavy textured work (mostly because I cant do it! = jealousy) but I think it is tastefully done. Especialy The Sims textures, I love them! I think the brownstone look is achived well, as that was my first impression of it, althought its not brown, at least a townhome type feeling. All the FLW glass is neat too.

And, btw, I meant to steel your thunder. This house is very nice and a very different style. I love more traditional homes but I cant do them! Too many textures for my photoshop-tard self.

Great job! :)

Oh, I LOVED that movie! Actually, you're gonna laugh, but I first got the idea for building a brownstone after watching Little Black Book with Ron Livingston. Problem was, I could never find a still picture of that really cool brownstone where Brittany Murphy's character lived, but I did find one very similar to the one you just posted. So, there you have it, folks: I have no original ideas. :D

Haha, well dont worry, nothin' orriginal here either. :p

EE Boynton House in Rochester, NY

B. Anubis House in Hamlin, SL

:D

But neither is an exact copy, just inspiration. Everyone, including the creators of these RL houses had their own influences the drew from as well. ;) The trick is to just make it your own, which I think you did quite nicely.
