I'm making an art gallery, and wavering on wether or not to sell my art as textures. I was wondering if there are any RL fine artists out there and if I might join a group of like minded folks dedicated to fine art.

I'm an artist and have a tiny gallery that shows my paintings: Osprey Therian Fine Art in Bodega. My friend Enjah is another artist, and owns the Mysterio Gallery in Uzume. There are a million artists here, daz. And artists' groups, too, although I'm not sure how active they are.

The Isle of Montmartre has an artist's group. Actually, it is a whole island dedicated to artists and arts in SL. Stop by!! there are always people there building, talking about building projects or just having fun socializing.

As others have said, there are many excellent RL artists here in SL; however, it can be difficult to find them. Searches in "places" often provide few results or, conversely, provide an abundance of results that are not relevant.
If you are interested in "testing the waters" with the sale of your designs, you might consider placing some pieces at the Ganymede Riverwalk. There is no charge for this and, despite the recent glitches with dwell/traffic counts, we actually gets quite a few people visiting there on a regular basis. Artists have used it as a place to display and sell selected works of art and use information notecards to to advertise their other works, their gallery and/or their studio. We are currently in transition for our next official Spring Art Festival. I have posted an "Invitation to Artists" in the classified-> Special Events section of the forums. I have seen your work and think it would be a great addition- so if you are interested (or any other artist for that matter), just give me a holler via IM or through the pager system on the Riverwalk. _____________________

Thanks for the compliment Zindorf. I am also pleased that Osprey and daz have both placed some of their works there - they have some very nice pieces located around the property and I have already received a lot of positive feedback on them from a number of visitors.

The best thing about the riverwalk is that it is easy to get to see the art, I really do not enjoy walking around corners and up stairs to see art, regardless of how pretty the building is.
