I made yet another new av yesterday. Some kind of spirit, I suppose - solid black, ethereal abstract wings, the usual, really. Then I found a little magic circle in a sandbox and started thinking: spirits need places to be summoned to, right?
So I started building. In a sandbox that felt more like someone's front lawn.
When I was done, I had a giant pseudo-magical diagram some 40-50 meters across that I left hovering in the air over my friend Merry Calliope's place.
It needs to have things happen when you interact with it, but I'm not sure what.

1) your beautiful avi - the wings are a reallllly neat variation of the usual!! , 2) your lovely inca-ish floating design - dunno what you could do with it, but it also kinda reminds me of the floating transparent control panels, like in 'minority report' and the zion controlroom in 'matrix reloaded'... 3) your friend's gorgeous oriental home below... reminds me of something i built back in 'the sims'!!

Thanks for the kind words. Crop circles/Nazca lines were kinda my intent, yes!
I've come up with a keen programmatic appearance effect for the design; if you happen to run into me in-game, ask to see it. Some part of me wants to add more, possibly along with invisible walls, and turn it into a floating home. Or one I can keep in my pockets. The end result might be too high-prim to keep out permanantly, given that I don't have a plot of my own.
The wings are simple abstractions; some say they look very much like my drawing style, I say they look very Second Life-y. I like being evocative rather than descriptive.
Merry's home is in the west side of Matsushima, if you want to have a look at her place and my circles. And whatever other fragments might be lying around...

From: Tayzia Abattoir Ohhh very cool Mechanique! These look like crop circles in the sky! That's because that design was a famous crop circle. It's the alchemy symbol that represents the transformation from lead to gold.

And whatever other fragments might be lying around... oh believe me, i would've been there by now if i could, lol - sadly, i'm 'between' sl-capable computers at the moment... long story. i had a brief-but-intense four days inside... and until i get a decent machine again, i have to satisfy my craving to explore more via the forums... will definitely stop by whenever i get the chance to come back! 'floating home' - like, have that design, and have walls extrude upwards from it? had an inkling of the same type, wonder how/if that'd work... i didn't get into building at all in my brief time. is it possible to extrude prims from an outline? on your abstract wings, i thought they looked like an 'illustrator/freehand' style design, with the curves, colors and transparency... neat. can a base skin have transparency, i wonder?? would probably be too complex on most vidcards, but it'd be great to combine glowing tron-lines with a 'hollow man' effect...

Very nice MT. I like your thinking outside the sandbox.

Hiro, it started as something based on half memories of alchemical symbols, but it kinda... drifted. The flipping thing pretty much fills up the entire screen when you focus on it and pull the camera all the way up; it's mostly just me doodling in a crop circle mode. Nyoko, I know what that's like. I mostly quit SL because of a variety of factors, but I'm spending a lot of time fooling around there 'cause I'm visiting a friend for a few weeks with not too much else to do during the day... I'm very much in love with Adobe Illustrator; it's my primary art tool. You can't put alpha channels on avatars... but you can hide parts of them with invisiprims. This is something I did that really leans on that. ---- May as well add to this thread I started instead of, say, spam the "post your sexy avs" thread: attached here is something that wound up being my interpretation of "Interplanet Janet", from the 1970's between-Saturday-morning-cartoons "Schoolhouse Rock" shorts. The blue exhaust rings animate, and no, she does not have any legs or feet. When you have a rocket integrated into your body, you don't need legs. (oh, a brief warning: images may not be work-safe. are those robo-nipples or innocent cable jacks with unfortunate placement?)
