I'm building the University of Hertfordshire SL presence and I want to spruce up the park area in front of the main building. I could add more trees but I want something to add variety. I thought about a pond but I need something that fills in the four corners.

Any ideas?

The screenshot is from during the night hours as I think it looks best at that time. : )

Thanks in advance for any input.

My immediate thought was to have a large fountain on the lawn each side, towards the front. And perhaps move the trees to along the edges. You could also make large round shrub beds out of hemispheres textured with leaves to save prims. If you make two concentric hemispheres, and pattern each of them, the foliage will look deeper

I agree about moving the trees out to the edges. Beyond that, why not just leave it as empty space? Lawns are just flat and green, and it's nicer that way. I suppose you could use a flower rezzer to fill the space.

a sundial, flagpole, zenrock garden, flower garden, pond, pool, wading puddle, fishpond, gazebo, river with bridge, floating rotating boulders, badass trellis with real grapes(that have wine inside), an umbrellaed sitting area, park benches, swings, prettier trees?

University Park eh?

Some 'don't walk/sit on the grass' signs?
Automatic frisbee dispenser?
Some poseballs under the trees for reading a book?
A bunch of pedestals with some sculpted busts of the deans (or any sculpted busts)? (After looking at UH website, rather... abstract sculptures)
Trashcans? (empty, but surrounded with trash)

are you implying the trashcans are abstract sculptures? or what?

Half the stuff in that list would look out of place ; )

Keep the context in mind and don't blurt out long lists, describe what you have in mind. That means no rivers, swings, pools, interactive grapes (?) etc...

I don't know if I would go to a university that didn't have all that neat stuff. The one I attended in RL did.

glad to hear i've got it half RIGHT!!!?

judging by the bland empty expance i thought mayby if the contents of my mind fell all over the page mayby something intresting would be seen but.. if it's a critical eye you lack, then what CAN i suggest? get one? keep it off my attempt to help. stop blasting ppl for trying to help? come up with your own ideas?<grumbles: why do i bother?>

It's a small green, how can I have a river there ; p

What good would swings be, it's a university.

I haven't blasted anyone, you're just touchy. : )

Your idea of a sundial is good, as is the flag. Flower gardens are always good too. I just want to avoid clutter and keep things neat which is why your list made me say'whoa'.

Damanios makes a good point with sculpted statues and I relate to Zephyrin Zabelin's view of seeing the front of it like a potential palace entrance (symmetrical layout of fountains and gardens etc).

But maybe you're right, it does seem a bit sterile and like I said you make some good suggestions, thanks. : )
