Snapshot troubles 512 X 512 is all?

No matter what i do or what i try i cannot take a snapshot any size but 512X512. Any ideas?

512x512 is the largest snapshot SL will let you take inworld, direct to inventory. If you go direct to disk (snapshot to disk), you can take larger snapshots, and hires ones will result in 9MB files (eek).

Inworld snapshots can also do unintuitive things wrt aspect ratio. This has some good hints on pictures, sort of a basic primer:
