I was there the first day, before all of the boats had arrived. Boy did I miss out!

I gotta go back!

Does the boat actually have to work or can it be just for display?

I'd wager that 99% of these boats were sailable in some way. Of the 1% was my scull which was made to be a high-detail model and not really rowable. Maybe some day, maybe...

Don't know what a scull is but I'm gonna guess it's that fast canoe/kyak thing in one of the pictures. Here's an idea to make it useable (Though you've probably heard it):
Make an invisible frame for its borders and then wear the entire boat as an attachment on a part that won't move, like the rump :).

Jolan,

A scull is a form of racing boat for sculling (rowing with two oars). As for scripting it, it's not the prim count which will cause a problem, nor the simulation of the physics related (though that will take a fair bit of work) it's how to animate the boat and avatar which I'm not looking forward to. The act of sculling is close to an artform and as such involves a moving seat and two oars which pivot about row-locks (aka gates). My animation skills (avatar animations I mean) are not yet developed enough that I can pull this off so I'm concentrating on other things for now and will some day get back to this problem.
