Can you change the file when you "save image as"?

I'd like to save some of the snapshots I've taken on SL to my computer, but it always downloads in .tga format, and my computer can't read that. Not to mention that the things I'd like to use the pictures for require .jpg or .jpegs. Is there some way to change the file type you can use to save pictures?

Thanks,
Deedlit

I've never seen a way, no. I've always had to open them with another program to change their format.

Nuh cant convert to anything when you save it except .tga , i use a really old program (from 99 O_o) called acdsee to convert/view things in thumbnail, it was so tiny and fast whenever i tried the new version of it , it felt like bloatware to much stuff i dont need.

This is the program tho, converts anything to anything and extremly fast at it, rename batches pic ### > pic 000 , pic 001 ect.

Probably pay to use i still have the ancient one :>

I just use photoshop2 to change mine, or if I am on a comp without it, paint... lol. Though paint degrades :|

I tried using paint to change the file type, but it just said that the format is not supported. Any other suggestions? (Preferably ones that don't cost money...)

What version of paint are you using? I've had it read .tga's in version 5.1. Then just choose File > Save As, clicking the drop down under the file name to change it to .jpg or even .bmp.

It does degrade the image though, but not so I notice, unless I enlarge it.

As an alternative, expand the snapshot to fill your screen and hit print screen, then open paint and Edit > Paste. Clean up the edges, and there you go as well.

I just email them to myself, then I can do anything with them that I want to.. When I save them to my hard drive (if I want to upload it really fast to throw it at someone) mine save as .bmp. don't really know why.
