Just a little something I found by my shop today. Y'know, I'll defend the right of "IMPEACH BUSH", given bush is a public figure, there's no law against ugly builds nor should there be, etc, etc... but this is a direct threat towards me and my group, who own much of the Eldora sim between us. (The squid is our logo.)
I can't name names, of course, but someday, perhaps, I'll be allowed to.

what kind of tard would do that? if you dont like a shop dont go there. of course there might be more to this story than you are telling us. I can tell you from my experience of having my little newbie shop completely wiped off the map by an oldbie I was renting from really hurt....

My group sells off some land to meet tier, land gets bought by guy who puts ugly spinny FOR SALE signs up with loud, noisy chimes playing audible from across the sim and marks it for twice the going rate, I try to reason with guy, attempt fails as he pulls a Divine, I put up walls and a sign (on our land - we surround this plot, since we sold it off) warning off from buying the guy's land, he decides to try to intimidate everybody in the group on land he BOUGHT FROM US. Given the account was created the very day the land was bought, it belongs to no groups, no ratings, etc, it's an obvious alt, and while there are people who, for one reason or another, might want to annoy the hell out of us, there's not a great deal of offensive action on our part.

Pretty lame. Had a look in-world. Things are stacked from the ground all the way to 200-300m or so, land price set to extortion levels and, of course, salable. Yay, Capitalism. Par for the course. Abuse Report the person - name and join date peg it an alt anyway. Past that... all that you can continue to do is build to the skyline around it, since it doesn't look like the things are physical or anything. If they were I would have *cough* blown them away personally.

I'm not doubting your side of the story but it sounds like there must be a reason why someone buys land then doesn't want to sell (as it's twice the rate right?) then goes to the trouble to build ugly prims making him look like an idiot no one would trust to buy from anyway. Where's Scooby Doo when you need him, my guess is that one of your group is doing this...

This brings back all the terrible feelings it gave me at the time. My sympathies, Aliasi. A little while later .....Ah, it's gone, hooray!

I'm not condoning the person's little tower, but after this maneuver, did you expect the issue to die a nice, easy death?

From: Gabe Lippmann I'm not condoning the person's little tower, but after this maneuver, did you expect the issue to die a nice, easy death? Not particularly, no. Impulsive action has ever been a weakness of mine. There's a fair difference between a "this land is overpriced, don't buy it" and the sort of threat shown here, though. But yes, after the Laz Divine issue, I admit I was hypersensitive to that kind of thing. OTOH, it's another in a series of actions that's turned me from a believer in the main grid to seriously considering a private sim. Although, given my involvement in Neualtenburg, I may just increase my holdings there.

I agree there's a difference and also that this person started all the problems, but.. the "don't buy it" part is as much a violation as what he ended up doing. "land is overpriced" = fact "don't buy it" = grief
