As the title says, What is the largest vehicle that you have ever saw that moves. I am curious about this and I am wondering what is the largest, so post the pictures of the largest vehicle that you have seen or tell us about it:)

Edit, Oh, since this is a post about large vehicles I guess the largest vehicle I have saw was the Ospray ship, I consider one of the largest vehicles I have saw that can cross sim boarders withou going boom 0_0

Largest moving vehicle I'm aware of is the Imperia by Mary Edison. 150 meters or so long, chain of kinematic moving parts.

Imperia -- is that the dirigible with a hangar filled with airplanes? I never saw it IW, just in the forum. That has to be the largest vehicle.

Although I'd like to take credit for the Recognizer, I can't. That was made by an anonymous builder who must have constructed it from one of my vehicle kits. That's a real shame, too, because the builder should get credit!

I seem to recall Jesrad Seraph making a ship so large that it was a bit too large to fit completely into a sim, or maybe just so. I saw/rode in it back when the Northern continent was still new.

I think I know what you're talking about - or at least something similar. I remember seeing one of Jesrad's vessels lumbering through Balance a long time ago.

But in addition to those ships, some of the largest ones I've seen were made by Kayin Zugzwang. Fantastic Zeppelins he made. I've also made some large ones myself, mostly themes airships from the game Skies of Arcadia. Here's a picture some one took of it a while back. Not the prettiest attempt, nor the most complete, but it did fly.

I thought that there was a 30 prim limit to a moving vehicle. Is there a way around it?

That's a 30 prim limit for a physical vehicle. The non-physics vehicles use scripting to move.

Since there's been no takers. Well, you're right 30-31, there's the thing where each passenger counts as a prim. I've never built a vehicle. Seen it in the movies.

But there's the technical term "vehicle", then there's the idea. "something that takes people places".

A vehicle, has a vehicle script and it must be physical and it has the ~30 prim limit.

But there are also scripts that move people around w/o physics. llSetPos() is an LSL function that moves things w/o physics.

With or without physics, you can always have more than one object (each composed of multiple prims) moving in synchrony. It ain't easy, it's not perfect, but it can work.

don't know about any of the examples above, but in SL, if you want to break a rule, it's always possible.

The limit is 31 exactly. You can't link a 31 prim vehicle if the avatar is sitting in the vehicle, stand up first.

When you say 'physical' you mean that the physical checkbox is checked?

I ask because I have a motorcycle, using a freebie script, that is 30 prims, and I have not checked the physical box at all. But I'm able to ride it around.

Does the script make it physical? Or do I have a non-physical vehicle?

The script turns on physics when you get on, then turns it off again when you get off. One of the few conveniences of SL vehicle scripts (or most of them).
