Hi there!
I just painted my first own skin textures. What do you think of them?
(honest opinions, please. No false sugar coating  )

I think I'd like to see a few more flaws in the skin. A little bit of freckle or wrinkle here and there, just barely noticeable to break up the smooth open spaces.

If they are there I just couldn't see 'em.

Looking good though. Keep it up.

First of all, you've done a fantastic job!!! My own drawing skill doesn't go any farther than stick figures and smily faces, so I have the utmost respect for your talent! That said, you did ask for critique... so here goes...

I like the makeup and eyebrows a lot. However, I'd prefer less highlight/contrast on the nose/under eye areas.

It could be my monitor, but be careful of using ruddy tones to make shadows. Savannah and Bree, in particular, look a bit sunburned on face, knees and collarbone areas. (There's a thought, though... a "sunburn" skin for that just back from holiday look, complete with sunglasses tan. It just might sell...)

Also, watch heavy shading around the breasts; on avatars that do NOT have DD+ breasts, it will look unnatural.

On the dark toned Savannah, you may wish to soften the shading all over to give her a smoother look.

I also agree with the above... some subtle freckles would be nice, but please, no moles! I don't understand why so many skinners are enamored of moles. Blech.

@Kornscope: Well, Porcelain and Bree already have very light freckles and slightly irregular skin (face only, though). Maybe too light?

@Malia: He he, Bree really has a bad sun burn XD. (although, that wasn't intended *g*) Thanks for mentioning the too dark coloring. I'll work on that :)

This goes more on the presentation of the skins, than the skins.

If I was in a skinstore than used the standing unatural pose, I would probably just leave before I bought a demo. There's so many good new poses that look more natural. The sitting pose far to the right (Bree) is good, it caught my interest. I think that's a good poster for a store, while the vendors should show standing avatars.

So I am sure you are talented not just in skin making, but in photograpy and avertising too. It was only this pose that I felt was a bit out of date.

I agree with the comment that the sitting down pose is very attention-grabbing, although I wouldn't NOT buy a skin just because I thought a pose was awkward or overdone. Your pictures look great to me.

I like all the skins (kudos on the photorealism that actually looks GREAT and not choppy or plastic-y like some I've seen), but the porcelain is a bit too pale for me. I'm pretty sure that's what you were going for, though, since porcelain pretty much = pale.

Overall, amazing job!

the skins look alright from what I can tell, but the photos are really small.

You need to copy the links below the thumbnail images into your browser to access larger ones.

I know this was posted a while ago. Maybe Eowrah has some updates? I like the style as a surreal interpretation of shadow and highlight.
