The only thing that works so far are the smokestacks (Thanks Particle Library!). The pieces are mostly under 10 prims, with exception of FWD and AFT bridges and will each have a function (hopefully). For now it's just a really expensive (213 primatives) Destroyer :)

Looks cool, not my kind of boat.. but really looks like you did a good job on it. Nice texturing.

*hugs*

I just shaved 40 prims off the current loadout for a total of 175 prims! XD
Replaced a few 3D parts with single textures :).

It's gettin there...

You asked for comments: unrealistic.
suggestions: look at real pics of real battleships for reference, or go totally creative and make good looking sci-fi battleships like in "Captain Harlock" or "Robotech"...

For a first effort at building a boat, it's impressive.

The scaling between the boat and the dock throws me off. Are you looking to do a model/diorama build? Probably the biggest disparity is with those cargo containers. It also doesn't help you're standing next to them in the photos which drives the scaling home.

I happen to think it's a fairly awesome build - first or not.

Note that the respondents so far have all posted from their own preferential perspective without actually seeming to consider yours as creator.

Scale, for instance. Considering that a Battleship can be longer than 800 feet, to build one at full scale would rquire nearly a sim-wide length if not more. So, it's obvious to me, at least, that you built to some other scale even consideirng you built a destroyer.

As for the dock and cargo boxes, valid points to some extent.

My advice, take the comments thus far in stride, ignore those that seem mean spirited and move onwards without looking back.

I don't see anything mean spirited in any of the above comments, just frank and honest opinions freely given to one who asked for comments... It's up to the recipient to learn from them of ignore them. We're all adults here. Building a realistic battleship is difficult given the capabilities of SL, so if the original intent was to build a "battleship looking" boat of practical size, then bravo! Good job! But if the intent was to make a replica, then it falls short. That's all. Nothing mean, just honest opinion.

In case you think I speak through my hat, visit the link below and see what I mean by "lifesize replica".
Have fun!;)

I think you forgot the link? ;)
Anyhoo, thankyous for your comments. The Ship is small because it will be pilotable, which means it's total size has to fit within link and prim limits. I would also like to sell, host or at least be a part of a mini-game, which IMO would be best to have smaller, more hostable ships (while still being drivable). I feel that it is roughly a good size for what I have planned. The dock is unproportionate because it is simply there for ambience, like building an airplane on an airstrip. There are many pieces left that I will build, as well as ship and hull types.
