Just another "look what I made Mom!" type newbie thread ^_^ I put the pictures on a separate webpage, http://brashendeavors.net/sl/my_first_house/My longterm goal is to have something that is entirely my own design, but as I am still a newb ^_^ the basic house structure here is simply Lordfly Digeridoo's classic patio house, copied/lifted/rotated to a large open staggered layout. About 90% of the house interior & furnishings is my own work, thanks to taking a ton of free beginner building classes (I am still a newb at prims but getting better!) I especially enjoy the challenge of budgeting prims, most of the objects in my house are 1-3 prims each. Thanks to the generous subsidized newbie plots by Prokofy Neva's Ravenglass, I was able to get this drop-dead gorgeous riverside 1024 on the mainland in "Aztecha", Columbia for a mere $250/wk (Ravenglass also offers 512 newbie plots for $150/wk). I love houseboats and wanted to get a similar effect, so I sunk most of the plot underwater then built up from a base deck. You have to be under 120 days to live in the subsidized newbie area, so eventually I'll have to pull up stakes and find a longterm place to call my own -- but for now, I am very happy with my riverfront budget home!

Sign me up for the tour. Excellent use of the dark wood panels and light wood framing. Are you an artist in real life? You have an eye for composition. I like the "log" furniture. It looks like you have made creative use of some library textures. It looks good from a distance too. If I was flying over I would be attracted and take a closer look.
Here is a suggestion for the next time. The greeks figured out that a rectangle ratio of 1 to 1.618 is pleasing. (That is, the longer side is 1.618 times that length of the shorter side). This is known as the golden rectangle. Your design makes such beautiful use of the rectangle. You may want to experiment with this golden rectangle next time.

Right, your talking about Phi (aka the golden ratio). But I think his home looks awesome anyway, regardless of that proportion.

Nice house and decorations. I am a decorator in SL and your work is impressive for a "Newb". Keep it up and I'd like to see your work 6 months from now.
Should be great.
