On tip is when you cut the main picture out and cut it and move to another background either set the feather to maybe.5 - 2 . that would blend out the edges and not make them as sharp.the only thing hard there is that you then need to trace just inside the pic you wish to cut.

Also you could slightly erase the edge of the cut and pasted pic by setting the eraser to about 40-50 of opacity, this will blend the main front pic into the background, just to blend in the front and rear layers. if you just erase slightly around the edge.
hope i'm not telling you how to suck eggs.

Paintshop Pro came with a 'background' slicer tool.. looked like an overgrown marker pen.. you simply dragged it around the outline of the subject and it would remove all traces of the background (required a bit of practise), even between fine hair.. then using the selection wand, select the void area, apply a feather of a couple of pixels, then apply a gausian blur... that would soften the edges as well...

I looked at the Pic's... they are great :)
