So, I was a bit inspired by the Protagonist's builds over in Chartruese when it came time to make my new shop, and I thought I'd try my hand at doing some artificial lighting too.

I'm quite happy with the results. I think the diffuse lighting can be passed off as a raytraced image, if you don't look too carefully.

This screengrab was done without any photoshopping or local lighting.

If you'd like to see the rest of this build, it's in Midnight City, Umber (118, 92). (See my profile for LMs)

Francis,

Are you rendering out these textures in some 3D application then uploading them with shadowing intact? If not, how are you accomplishing this? Looks great!

That looks awesome, Francis! I love the Protagonist's builds too. They are such an inspiration. :) Midnight City rocks too. I go there even if I have no money to spend. :D

Thanks for the compliments :)

Synergy, I'm not rendering them in a 3D application. (I would love to, but I don't know my way around lightwave/maya/whatever to)

This lighting is done by hand (completely faked) It's just creative application of the spotlight tool in photoshop. (Actually Corel Photo-paint, same difference)

There's only 1 or 2 unique lighting textures that I made. If you go visit the build and take a look, you'll very quickly figure out my "secret" :)

PS. Before I forget, the (non-lighting) textures I used were donated by Drift, Gwinivere and Aimee)

Cool stuff! It'd be cooler still if you made various lighting textures that would change based on the time of day :)
