Was looking for a good picture of my first avatar in my HD snapshots folder, and found alot of fond memories and interesting pictures. I'm going to post a few of my favorites here.
First up: 2/3ds into my Second Life found me up on the moon in the Palace/Nightclub I built there. Got bored with it before completion, but the robot bartended, iZak, was the best bit. He would make up your drink exactly to order. (Never DID teach him to let GO, however...)

Set the Wayback machine for DAY ONE! As you can see from the filename, this was my second screenshot ever taken. (The first was of my thumb, I assure you.) This is the motley crew I was presented with upon first leaving Prelude Island. Pretty much the same, really.

Later that day, I staked out a nice chunk of land overlooking the Boardwalk. (This was back in the days of public land, when you could own as much as you could afford to buy.) Since everyone flew, the first thing I built was a air dock. What a goddawful shirt!

By my third day, I was well into construction, learning as I went. (I was going to texture it later, I promise! At least it wasn't plywood... )

Then I heard about the Burning Life festival tht was coming up. It sounded like a lot of fun. But since every prim you rezed back then was a $10 investment, I had to tear down the Cliffton House. While I waited for the festival to start, I just camped out under the stars.

Now the festival itself and all the wonderful creations there are well documented elsewhere, so on a personal note: This was the first time I'd ever seen someone wearing a cabin on every attachment point. Though it wasn't the last.......

Festival over, I sold my land next to the Boardwalk and bought a new parcel on another cliff. People moved around a lot back then, and I just LIKE cliffs.
This was the result after a week's work.

For some strange reason, the house was pretty WILD looking at night. Simulated Virtual Blacklight (tm).

There was just one problem with the house... I failed to take scale into account. Only a GIANT would feel comfortable there!
After learning that (back then) being at the edge of the world made drag-selecting objects easier (because you wouldn't get your neighbor's house in the selection), I moved to Aqua, on the shore and rebuilt from scratch.
It was a lot more polished looking this time around, and I still will occasionally sell a copy.

Halloween rolled around, and Plum and Lime were opened up for themed builds. Spookiness abounded. I built the cemetery pictured here using the (then new) particle emiters to make fog. It was a fun build, VERY prim intensive.

Not stopping with just looking pretty, I built a little game into the cemetery. Opening the crypt would erase all the tombstones, then each one in turn would reveal a humorous epitaph, and you had to choose if the person, based on the words written by their loved ones (or the people happy to throw dirt on them, at least), was good or bad.

A production of Midsummer's Night Dream put on by a group of Lindens (I think) in the Oak Grove theater on December 2nd. Rather hard to follow, coming in in the middle as I did, but entertaining nonetheless. I watched most of it with the newly released Macintosh beta client, which had a problem with textures at the time (like, it wouldn't show half of them) but logged on via a Windows machine to take this shot.

No idea what was going on here. I have land edit mode on, to judge by the green land, and my green Matrix Tiger avatar variant. I think I took the shot because it looked like I was clinging to the cliff... Neat, anyway.

I guess I've started taking fewer and fewer pictures, at least at lunchtime when I use this computer, because I don't have nearly as many recent photos as I do older ones. So I'll end this album (at least for now) with a quite current shot from the lobby of my TigerTor apartment building. Probably the prettiest build I've made so far, I think.
