Hi there is a lagitimate use for the 1024x1024 size megaprims, and not just the flat ones. This sky composis of a 1024x1024x100 half cut hollowed sphere, and a hollowed 1024x1024x100 cilinder. What do all you guys think, also of the Felonhall rebuild i did reciently i couldnt wait for Windlight 2 come out so i made my own ^ ^ edit: if ur wondering why theres bits missing, its cus i havnt finished it by any acounts yet

I've done this last winter for a brooding, oppressive Victorian winter sky using a prim 65 kilometers by 65 kilometers on a side - it worked great, but only for residents whose draw distance included its center. So I fixed it by using a few of them scattered about; it worked fairly well but people did eventually tire of it. Many only saw grey due to texture loading times - nothing to do with the megaprim but everything to do with all else in the area not loading up very fast. Note: with the big ones, even when not alpha, they will still tend to 'flicker' if within say, less than 20m of each other. Keep them alpha and distant. One of my most fun times was adding a slow texture change and texture rotation to a cloud field - little fluffy clouds to stormy, and back, over a couple hours. Pretty, but many residents did tire of that, too.

Every 5 minutes, change the texture to a giant clown face for a few seconds.

I've got something similar around my sky home. A 40x40x40 sphere, hollowed and phantom, with a photoshop cloud texture both inside and out, and a message that says "no tresspassing" on the outside cloud texture. It rotates slowly, and helps obscure my home from prying eyes. Very handy, as it allows me to see clouds outside my window without having them blow inside my skyhome.
