Hi everybody,
I have this issue within SL, I created a new animation in Qavimator but when I view it in SL the movements are not done at all or they go very slow ignoring the timeline settings created in Qavimator and the move takes the entire timeline.
I have been reading a lot about this subject but there are no clear answers about limits how to avoid that in SL when you create an animation in Qavimator. Like the use of the hip or movmenets with the upperbody or how SL skips things when you wanna upload them in SL.
The only limit I have been seeing myself is the maximum length of 30 seconds.
I tried other BVH software and the BVH files I created play in the perfect. So it seems not to be Qavimator when exporting them.
I have been trying and reading for days now but can't find the answers.
Yes, frame 1 is untouched and tried also copying the poses into frame 1 but the result is the same. Other software does the same when uploaded into SL. I'm using RC 1.20.12.
Who knows what I'm doing wrong or is it the way SL finetunes the animations when I wanna upload them.
Thanx for the help, Andred

If you're doing subtle animations, be aware that lossy compression is used and a lot of smaller moves get filtered out. (^_^)
With Qavimator, if you're leaving joints without any adjustments, whatever is running before the animation will still be active. (^_^)
When uploading, pay close attention to the priority. If you're making a pose and still want typing to work, go for priority 2. Sits and gesture animations work well at 3. And 4 is the kill-all if you really want to lock an avatar in place. (^_^)
It's probably too early since I don't think it's been snapshot since you joined, but, getting on the beta grid is a wonderful place to test out animations at no cost to you. It's where I try mine out with the free upload monies provided. (^_^)y

Thanks for answering.
But how can I prefent of getting them filtered out... and what is lossy compression?
There are no loose joints. Everything is locked in the second frame and tried even up too priority 4. Even in the preview it is broken allready.
For me it's like SL breaks it when it is imported.

Lossy Compression = Any compression that leaves out perceptively "unimportant" information and results in any level of artifacting (or loss) of the un-compressed result. The easiest example is image distortion found in jpeg compression. (^_^)
"Everything is locked in the second frame and tried even up too priority 4." makes me think you should have no problems. It sounds like you're doing everything right. Yes, I think the limit is 30 seconds and I think there is a file size limit, but, I've never hit it. You obviously know your file names, and you have done a good job of testing them. (=_=)
I guess I go back to this... are the animations you're making very small and subtle movements, static poses, or massive dance/gesture/RP maneuvers? Each one has it's own set of issues and I'm sure there's a much more active animator than I am out here that can offer a tutorial link or something of that sort to help. (o.o)

This is a good question, Immy. Hot, it sounds like you're doing everything right, so it almost has to come back to the movements. Make sure you are moving every joint at least one degree in the second frame. The good thing is you only have to move each joint one degree in one direction, not all three. If that doesn't fix it, I would love to see an example bvh file that exhibits this behavior so I could try to figure it out.

Thanx for the reply.
They are indeed subtle movement, sitting on furniture, no dances or stuff like that. Just a little change in positions. And the entire position is set in the second frame.
But what I understand is that the SL-client decides to change the moves I make and just leave them out... nice.
And I have seen example files and compared them and I do nothing wrong as far as I know.
Looks like a dead end... lololol

Hot - you could try making your movement just a little less subtle. Sometimes just a degree or two can make a difference between the movement being ignored or not
Also, you could try animating at 15 fps or maybe even 12 fps - this can sometimes help too when movement is being lost on upload.
