I'm prepping PoseCubes to go, and one decision remains unresolved: price.

I'd like to know how much you would pay for each PoseCube.

This price would be added to the cost of furniture per Cube, and also the cost of buying a cube for personal / commercial use.

Please note, PoseCubes will eventually be free / open source. This cost will exist for one to three months, depending on a number of circumstances. This cost will pay for the extensive development time I've put into the PoseCubes.

Hi Hiro!
If I were you I would sell them in two versions:
- Packs of 10 for furniture makers/retailers, nocopy. Great opportunity for volume discount.
- Copyable-notransfer for personal use. Pricier, but with added value.
What do you think?

Since there are so many commercial purchases of pose-furniture (that fact out of the mouths of Snow and Phil) - it makes the latter option financially unsound.

In English - no, clubs will just install them all over the friggin place and only have to buy one.

As a furniture vendor, i would only be interested in this in bigger deals than per piece...
basically selling no copy is too much hassle for me to be interested in it.

I agree... I dont see any point in buying something like this if it is no copy.

Obviously it's a risk to sell rights to a copy / transferrable object.

I'm currently taking that risk with Phil and Snow; I've negotiated an agreement with them. Again, after a time this will be free, and all furniture developers will have access to it.

This is more to see how much of a cost increase the furniture should be - as well selling individual PoseCubes for users who want to set up their own living room, etc.

A tiered pricing scheme is the way to go:
No Copy, No Mod, Trans: L$10 -> L$20
Copy, No Mod, No Trans: L$100
Copy, No Mod, Trans: L$1000
Copy, Mod, Trans: L$1500

No Copy...

I have to agree on this. It sounds like a wonderful innovation, and I'd love to employ it in furniture I'm building. But I'm not equipped to sell limited numbers of copies, and can't imagine changing over. I'd gladly buy a license to use the technology for items to be sold as no-copy or copy/no transfer (we currently sell chairs as copy/no transfer, since people typically want several of them). It's not unwillingness, just not being equipped to sell finite numbers of pieces of furniture.

Hiro,

While I look forward to the release of your PoseCubes that offer support for multiple animations and less sim resources, I would have trouble buying non-copyable versions of these PoseCubes. Furniture has a decent amount of prim counts and sales best if displayed (ie not in a vendor). If my only choice was a non-copyable version of your script(s), I'd eat up prims by having to set out multiple copies of the same piece of furniture. Or I would lose sales if I didnt have enough for display. And most pieces of my furniture has 2 poses, so the price couldnt be too high for the PoseCubes because it would in turn raise the price of my furniture (in some cases double). But then again it would help simplify and greatly increase the attractiveness and functionality of the more high end pieces, esp those with many poseballs.

I wouldnt mind paying you well for your work for a copyable version. Not sure if I would need a mod version until I saw how the PoseCube worked and how you adjust positioning of animations/poses. I'd love to test a no copy/no mod version of the PoseCube soon. If not personally, does Phil and Snow have anything at their store using the PoseCube?

Thanks,
Annah :)

Adam, 1500 for copy / trans? No, it's called "I get a cut of your profits."

Regardless, I emphasize this'll be freeware eventually.

I'm updating the posecube thread, as some developments have come up today :)
