I would like some offline animations that are compatible with SL. Are there any websites where we can download various animations files?

It goes without saying that Poser is available.

SL Avatar's joint hierarchy is constracted based on Poser 2 model. They use bvh format to upload animation. The bvh is just informations of each joint's movement by time. So if you could write the data by hand, all you have to prepare would be just a text editor. :D See this.

Otherwise, you need some software allowed to export bvh. I heard that someone made plug-ins to export bvh for Maya and Blender. I guess you need to make bones the same named with Poser 2 model on each software.

Someone is now making an animation tool for SL. See this thread. I'm not interested in this personally because he would not make it for Mac. But this is really awesome, isn't it? Have this allowed just still poses, yet?

:::Summary:::
They are alternate.
Poser 4(Artist) , 5, 6, Maya with plug-in, Blender with plug-in, some text editor, or SL Animator.

Free BVH files

There are some free BVH motion files here:

http://www.bvhfiles.com/

I've managed to get a few of these files modified in Poser so that they work in SL. I've had the best luck with the stationary poses rather than the walks...
