I bought a new computer a couple of weeks ago and loaded my copy of Poser 5 on it. I have opened it successfully a few times in the past couple of weeks, but when I tried to open it today, I got dumped to a DOS blue screen saying:
"An attempt was made to execute non-executable memory. Ask hardware or software manager for any Windows updates you might need. If problem continues, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing.
Beginning dump of physical memory - memory dump complete."
Then, I had to manually shut down and re-start the computer. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Poser several times now, with still the same blue screen warning every time I try to open Poser. The only thing I've loaded recently that I think might have an effect is a demo copy of FRAPS, software that allows video capture within a game. I haven't tried uninstalling that.
Curious Lab's web site says something about certain machines showing a tendency to have problems with Poser after a recent Windows XP upgrade. I've just emailed Curious Labs for some help with this situation, but thought I'd post to forums to see if anybody else has experienced this frustrating problem. Anybody? Buehler?
*sigh*
