Okay I made my first pose earlier on - yay me - I've never even touched QAvimator until today and I literally just played around so I'm really not sure what is what before anyone comes in with too many technical terms lol... Anyway.. I uploaded my animation to SL and started about making a poseball for a seat I made as that's what the pose was hopefully going to be for. To start with when sitting on the poseball I appeared several "feet" higher - to position myself on the seat meant the poseball itself was buried inside of the object and you couldn't select it.. I realised that I had probably not positioned the avatar correctly in QAvimator before saving so moved myself down to "floor" level in QAvimator. I uploaded to SL again, made the poseball and this time I am several feet "below" the poseball so to position the ball on the seat means it has to float several feet above the seat lol. So.. I don't get it... What sort of values, (and where do I put them), should I be looking at so that a pose/animation in a poseball is ON the poseball...if that makes sense? Ie. Not floating above the ball, not sinking below the ball but on the ball Also - I noticed on a second pose I made that when I uploaded it to SL it seemed to change a little - whereas in QAvimator I had an elbow on a thigh and a hand on a head once it was uploaded my hand was nowhere near my thigh and my head and other arm get moving..the head being the worst as it was following the mouse like normal which meant sometimes I'd my move my mouse and appear to scoop out my own brain - what did I do wrong? Be gentle with me.. I'm a noob to all this but jebus I'm having fun Pixie

there is a free pose ball script which you can adjust the position of the avatar in relation to the ball, i.e make it closer or further away.

Ah yes meant to add the poseball had the Nyterave Anim8 Ball 2.1 script included - is that the one you mean? Sorry totally forgot to mention that. If so - does anyone know which bits of that need editing to change that specific position in relation to the ball? Thanks all Pixie

Be gentle with me.. I'm a noob to all this but jebus I'm having fun Pixie Welcome to the art of pose making. Almost all of the poseball scripts have a way of adjusting the offset. You will want to adjust the Z offset. It will probably look something like this: <0.0, 0.0, 0.5>. They are x, y, z order in the script. Z is vertical in scripting. Y is vertical in QAvimator. The difference is a result of the BVH file format. (Oh, and do not make the offset all zeroes. That will cause you grief.) As for parts of your avi moving where you don't want them to, you have to make sure you move every joint at least a little or SL thinks you do not care about that joint and move it for you. Don't forget to move the collar joints. If it is a pose where you want no movement, upload it at Priority 4. Other animationns may call for a lower priority. For instance, if sitting, you may want your head to move with your mouse. You will have to make an educated guess about what priority to set it at there. Also keep in mind, that QAvimator has a somehwat average avatar, but it is not perfect. Getting hands to sit on your lap is not going to work for every avatar. I have lots of problems getting hands to land properly on the avatar's face, for instance. The width of the avatar's shoulders and the length of their arms are just two factors that you cannot control, but must try to account for if you want to pass your poses along to other people.

Hi Pixie,
Rez your poseball, edit and place it in position and go to the contents TAB. Right click and open the poseball script and find the line that sets the offset parameters. These define the position of the avatar hips in relation to the centre of the pose ball in metres.
It sounds like your animation is actually too high, so you will need to make the last co-ordinate lower - that is the z co-ordinate. Look at your avatar's position in relation to the pose ball and make an estimate of where it needs to be - then edit the co-ordinate(s) in the pose ball script. You can make the values negative and all three may not be set = zero. So try, e.g., 0.0,0.0,-0.5. Save your amended poseball script and test the result by sitting on the poseball again.
Rinse and repeat until you get the position you want.
