Howl and growl etc. like you see/hear people doing in the clubs? Also, I notice people saying certain phrases and I know it's not being typed in each time....how does that work. I hope I'm posting in the correct place.

I take it you are seeing the persons name and then what they are doing? for instance: Markubis Brentano smiles and waves would be typed into the chat line as /me smiles and waves as for the gestures and sounds...youcan buy those at various places and then set them up in your gestures /me hopes he has helped...  |

The sounds you refer to are called gestures, You can get them all over secondlife both for free and by purchasing just look em up in search
Once you find some you like open your inventory right click on the gesture and click activate.
You can also upload your own sounds (I've done a couple using my voice ect) then hitting upload, sound, then open your inventory click new (up top) and new gesture.

If you are in a club where everyone is using the gestures, just type in open chat "Where can I get the howl gesture?" Most likely you will suddenly be sent several of the free gestures.
