I wondered if anyone has this program and how it compares to other animation programs. Im very new at animation and have tried the free QAvimator. Thanx in advance.

My understanding is that AniMate is a plugin to DAZ Studio. DAZ Studio itself is free. I've gotten it recently and I'm trying to learn how to use it (using the avatar meshes from http://www.avaverse.org/tag/second-life-avatar-mesh/). There are a few official DAZ studio tutorials on Youtube that may prove helpful in learning more about it. So far, Qavimator seems a lot simpler to use, but I suspect it's also a lot less powerful (at least for animations; static poses may be a place where Qavimator is actually superior).

Huh. It was working just last week or so. It's run by Nexeus Fatale, so I expect he knows what's going on with it. He has another website listed in his profile, http://www.nexeusfatale.com/, but other than some mentions of his Avaverse project it doesn't seem to mirror the content there. I expect if there's any news to be had, he'll post it there.
![]() Before I found his meshes, I did manage to convert files from http://www.ccccybernetics.com/avatar_databank/ to work with Daz, but I switched to his mesh (after he sent me corrected versions just a couple of days ago) because I figure they'd probably be the better for having been prepared specifically for Daz Studio. Perhaps not, I don't know. Give the avatar databank a whirl instead and see how it goes. ![]() |

Hi,
I've been experimenting with the Daz Animate plugin and it's a very nice easy to use piece of kit, although the library of animate blocks (pre-prepared sections of animation that you stictch together to make the final animation) is currently quite small. So, getting a good animation is easy but...the resulting BVH file is huge. I made a 20 sec animation (30 frames per second, so well within the 900 frame limit (that's right isn't it?), but the resulting bvh file was about 360 kbytes. When I tried to upload it, it previewed well but then reported that only files of 60,000 bytes could be uploaded (I assume the same 64 K limit on scripts and so on). Anyway, I'm just experimenting now with shorter animation or trimming out some extraneous stuff in the large file. I have read on other forums, when researching this a little, that Daz produced files incorrectly position the avatar in relation to the ground level, not such a problem with pose balls but certainly tricky with AO's |
