Is it possible to create a stooped walk that would work for all avatar heights.
I'm trying to make a walk for an old man and I wanted the legs to have a constant bend in them to help create that stooped effect.
My understanding is that if the hip is lowered to create the walk then it will not work well for avis of different heights due to the way SL interprets BVH.
Conversely if I leave the hip alone but raise the legs will that produce a floating anim.
Any tips would be great.

Probably not all, but you could have script detect avatar height and adjust an offset in an AO accordingly.

I suppose you could make multiple hip height animations at priority 4 to use in conjunction with your old man walk to accommodate most regular av sizes.

I believe that if you make the walk without touching the hip height the avatar's feet will always touch the ground.

If you do manage to make one...I'd be very interested in purchasing it from you.

It's been a while since I played with my animations as I have recently started a new job. I took the advice offered here and my walk now appears to work with the feet firmly planted on the ground.
As this is designed to work with a walking stick I now have to generate some stands to go with it.
I now have the same floating problem with my stand anims. I have generated them without adjusting the hip heights as I did with the working walk but the avi floats a few inches above ground level.
Obviously I could adjust the hip height for my specific avi but that is not much use for anyone of different height.
How do you get a bent legged stand to keep it's feet on the ground?

I just made a bent leg stand and adjusted the hip height until the feet touched the ground in avimator. At height 50 and 100 the feet are on or very near the ground, at height 0 the feet sink a little bit into the ground. You really can't make animations that work for everyone. I'd just make it work for the average height.

Cheers Bree. That's what I pretty much had figured. I guess I could produce three or so versions for average heights and then the more extreme tall and short settings.
