I am new to SL. I am trying to find a good lesson on using animations. I bought zaoh animazoo and have added more animations. I do not understand how to get them into my main animation, etc. I do not like some things my avatar does but like others. I just do not understand any of this and am looking for a good lesson on doing all of this. I also would like to make my own eventually. Any help would be greatly appreciated. In the meantime I am reading all I can on this forum and other places I have found. But none have really helped me understand how to combine all of them and get my avatar walking, sitting, standing, flying, etc. like I want. I want to model and have to learn how to make her move smooth. I am female too in RL. I do notice she is jerky sometimes. I have checked everything with my graphics card and it should be fine and way more than enough of what is needed for SL. ty again!!

Hi Maribel,
Welcome to SL! For learning more about animation and some of the editors you can use for creating your animations take a look at the Sticky Posts up at the top of this forum....they really provide a lot of great information! ~ Desi _____________________

Hi Maribel, Welcome to SL and the forums.
![]() You might like to look out for classes in world - use the search function and look for education, courses, classes etc. NCI provide a lot of very useful ones. Also check out Torley's video tutorials from the SL web site. Somwhere on this board there is a link to a tutorial for using the ZHAO - and Ziggy Puff, who made the ZHAO - is always ready to help too! (Bless Ziggy!) Good luck and enjoy your Second Life. _____________________

You will need to edit the notecard inside your ZHAO so that it contains the names of the new animations you have added. (You need to do this on the ground, not while wearing it.)

The animations which happen when you first log in to SL are the default animations - ones that come with the avatar.
What you need to do is have an 'animation overrider', which is a scripted object that holds the animations you want to use instead. When it notices your avatar starting to do the various things that trigger the default animations, it runs your choice of animation instead. Almost all animation overriders need you to fill out a 'configuration notecard' - basically, a notecard that says something like: [Flying]my_flying_animation Where '[Flying]' is the word the script recognises to mean 'the next word is the name of the flying animation to run'. And 'my_flying_animation' is (obviously enough) the flying animation you want. Similarly, there will be ones for walking, sitting, hovering, landing, and so forth. For making animations, the best places I've found to learn are listed on my blog, at http://seshat-czeret.blogspot.com/2008/08/learning-to-animate.html _____________________
