So I'm probably not the first to ask and probably wont be the last but I'm trying to upload an animation from Poser 7.
I've downloaded the mesh, made the animation and exported it into a BVH file but SL still wont read it. Any suggestions or clear tuts on where to go to fix this?
Thanks

Did you let it scale when you saved the BVH?

puzzled by poser 7

Hi, sorry for such a basic question, but no matter what I try, when I to import the .bvh file, SL says "Failed to initialize motion"

I'm trying, atm, to just import a pose. Do I need to make a static pose a certain number of frames? Should I save it some other way? I'd really like to do this, but am totally baffled at this point, and any help or suggestions would be very welcome. Thanks!

Check through Ulrika's tutorials for Poser 5 - they should get you going in the right direction.

Apologies - the link was ok not so long ago! The vendor's web site used to have some Poser tutorials - e-frontier?

The problem is that Poser is a complicated application and it is hard to deal with very general questions in a forum post. Asking specific questions is much easier for me answer. Briefly, for a static pose:

You must use the SL avatar figures (get from the Downloads page on SL website).
Alternatively you can use the Poser 2 figure (other Poser figures will not work in SL).
You need 2 Frames.
Frame 1 must be the zero rotation T-Pose.
Frame 2 must be the static pose you wish to create.
You must move all joints just a little on Frame 2- otherwise they will be ignored in SL and the default animations will take priority - but please note that for some poses this is what you want to happen, so you selectively leave certain joints alone.
Save your 2 Frame Poser file before you export to bvh.
Export to bvh and accept the option to scale automatically.
Import the bvh file to SL and check the box to LOOP the animation.
Priority on upload can be set to values from 1 - 4. Use the lowest priority you need - 2 or 3 is usually ok, but if you want to override the default sit, you have to use priority 4.

Looping the single frame animation will make it play over and over again, so it looks a static pose.

It is useful to test on the Beta grid, otherwise you can find your self uploading a lot of failures - well I do, anyway!
