To clear your cloud...

Right click on yourself, get the pie menu, and choose Appearance. Sometimes adjusting your appearance will stop the cloud.

this can also happen if you are wearing a clothing item that references a uuid that cannot be found (for a number of reasons) if popping into and out of appearance mode doesnt work, try changing what your are wearing, including hair/skin/shoe/eye layers

I think there is a checkbox somewhere in Prefs called "render avatar imposters" or something like that. Disabling that option should take care of the cloud, at least in YOUR viewer. Other people's viewers still may or may not show your avatar.

Personally, I have an older graphics card, and if there are too many avatars in view, it simply gives up and doesn't render all of them. :( However, if the cloud-person toggles something as described above it will sometimes fix it for me.

a spinoff on Voids idea would be to use the advanced menu and select 'Charachter' then try the 'Charachter tests avatars'. there are a male and a female ..afcause

I've noticed a big increase in the number of unresolved avatars in the past few months, particularly at infohubs where newbies congregate. I wonder if Void's fact has anything to do with that? If there is an item provided to newbies in the library that is missing the UUID, that could account for the problem.

The avatar imposters checkbox doesn't help with getting cloud avatars to load, in my experience. It only lowers the level of detail of avatars further from the camera. I have played with all of the graphics settings in Preferences, and have not succeeded in getting these avs to resolve. Asking them to go in and out of Appearance mode often fixes it, but that isn't practical if there are lots of them.

in the case of other avs not rezzing in, occasionally it helps to shoot yourself up ~700m and then return. essentials it's a timeout issue somewhere, with the local cache not re-requesting items in view that it's not received (or has dumped in the case of sculpts, which is seen often in luskwood)

if you are the only one that seems affected (meaning your av) it's more likely the problem that I suggested above (only seems to affect the wearers view, although that may change with forced baking)
