Animation: Dive to Slide

I am looking to animate someone diving into a slide, like a baseball player diving head first into homeplate. However this slide is to continue for a distance beyond the current parameters of animations movement, I've animated a slide, but it comes up much to short.

I was wondering what would be the most effective way to make the animation slide farther. I was thinking of doing a stationary animation and then moving the poseball in synch with it, but I am hoping there is an easier way.

Any help is appreciated.

Unfortuanetly, you have to move the poseball. SL avatar animations are for body parts' movement, not for the whole body in principle.

I know this question is probably better asked in the coding thread, but it applies with this, I've tried moving poseball with llSetPos, but to get a good speed with that the movement ends up looking choppy at least to me... is there any better function to use for smooth poseball movement?

I have not tried my hand at creating animations yet so I may be off-base with this input.

Your mention of the slide as being "too short" is a bit vague and I wonder what you had in mind as an acceptable distance for the body of the avatar to travel.

I think that just about everyone in SL has seen most of the more popular dances that have been created and it brings to mind one dance, CIRQUE in which the avatar is made to rise smoothly into the air for what appears to be a height of about 3 times that of the avatar. This seems like a pretty reasonable distance for a headfirst slide into home plate.

I understand that we cannot post names on the forums but I am certain that you can track down the creator of this dance animation easily. He is a very amicable fellow indeed and can possibly point you in the right direction should you feel the travel distance would suit your needs.

Yeah, and when you quit the animation, you can go back to the original position quickly because your actual position doesn't change at all. I've ever looked into it. Please refer to this thread.

I was looking to make a slide of about 11m or so... which is considerably more then the animations seems to allows and I think a bit beyond three avatar lengths... I'll have to check into it. I'll look into that thread though. Thank you for the replies
