I don't want the head to turn.

Hi,

I built a Hear No Evil, See No Evil and Speak No Evil animation. It works great in the view. I uploaded it with Priority 4 and figured that would lock all the default head movement animations in SL, but it didn't. As I look around with my camera and come back to my avatar, the head is facing left or right not straight. How can I lock the head movement so my animation looks good?

Thanks, JulieAnne

Change the head joint in the first frame after the initial ("T";) frame. Just a small change is all that is required.

Read the sticky on this forum for the explanation: learn how SL interprets animations on a joint-by-joint basis, ignoring any joints that aren't changed in the first actual animation frame (the 2nd frame in the BVH file).

kool, so all your saying is that if I move the head just a bit on the first frame... it will lock into that position?

Move EVERY joint at least one degree in one direction, then upload with loop turned on and at priority 4 and nothing will move.

You need to move every joint you want to animate just a few degrees on frame 2 of your animation. To fix the head you will need to move both the head and the *neck* joint - and possibly the chest, abdomen, hip and collar joints as well - but this will depend on exactly what motion you want to animate.

A lot of animators set up their frame 2 with every joint just moved a few degrees, as this will make sure SL does not ignore any joint. Then if they actually do want a joint to be ignored, they just set it back to zero.
