Hi there,
I have a parcel with waterfront. I'd like to swim in the water. I found a swimming animation in the default SL folder, but it doesnt work at all. The Avi sinks.
Is there any way to make the avi swim normally? I saw some nice floating poses, this comes close to it. I could imagine a mixture of floating, swimming and flying: the avi moved at the surface of the water, geared by "left/right" button or mouse.
Additional question: Is there any functional difference between water objects (like in tubs) and the "natural" SL Water?
I bet my nose that this question has been asked many times before. What's the solution?
Thank you, Martin.

Well, don't feel too bad. I was just pondering the same question today myself, and hadn't even yet discovered that swimming animation you mentioned. So I would also like to know what the best way is to swim in SL.
The thing that occurs to me is that you could possibly use 'Fly' to keep yourself on the surface, then apply the animation. I've used fly before to keep from sinking in water, when I landed in the wrong place.

Hi Ceera, There is a swimming animation used with the scuba gear on Fairchang Island that works pretty much like that and has bubbles etc. but I think you have to wear the scuba suit to use it. If you search for Farichang Island or "scuba" you might find it. If you haven't found it by this evening and want it IM me and I will try to find the exact location for you.

There are a few animation overide attatchments that support swimming... The trick is, once applied, you must, techinicly "fly" under-water for the animation to switch over to "swim." So, basicly, you still can't really swim without some sort of vehicle script, or attatchment. You need to *fly* with you swim animation activated, then head under the water-level. It's jsut flying really, but with certain a/o's they read if you're underwater and switch you to "swim" mode. If you land, however, you'll just end up walking on the sea floor.

I use the Reverie one. I would also recommend Korin Ingersoll's K-Type swim, it's quite froggy and pleasant. I think it is free... IM her and ask, say I sent you... LOLEX. If anyone needs a free Animation Overrider to describe what was said (i.e. you go into the water and it automatically switches you into a swimming animation), just IM me inworld and I'll hook you up, okeydoke?
