-=- Help With Poses In Second Life -=-
What I “think” I know so far:
1) Pose your character in (Avimator, Poser…) 2) Make it Frame 1 of 1 3) Save the BVH motion File. 4) Upload it to SL 5) What settings do you choice when you upload it?
Issues/Confusion:
First try: A) I uploaded the BVH file that had 1 of 1 frame. I did not touch any of the second life options given to me. I uploaded the animation. When I placed it into a pose ball to use, I would pose for a split second, and then be out of the pose.
Second try: B) When I uploaded the same BVH file and then altered the options SL gives you when you first upload the file, it seemed to help, because the AV then at least would stay in the pose, BUT…. When I placed the animation in a pose ball, sat down, and then was in pose, I would break out of pose when I selected something in edit mode. My upper body would bend strange and then not revert back to the pose unless I stood up and sat back down.
-- Questions -- I) Am I doing steps 1 through 4 as mentioned above correctly? II) What are the correct upload second life settings to make the BVH file into a pose? III) How do I (Or what settings do I choose to) prevent my pose from being broken when sitting on a pose ball when I go into edit mode and select something?
Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you! ^.=.^

When making a pose or an animation for SL, always keep the first frame intact (as qavimator already does for you). It is used as a reference frame to check, which joints have been changed. So, basically, do not edit the first frame but change all limbs you want to move in the *second* frame, whick SL will regard as first frame of the pose.

1. All animations need to have 1st frame default. 2. Change every body part you want to take over from the default SL anims. Best to just move everything to start off with because if you miss something like the collarbone and are moving the arms it can go wonky. 3. on upload click on the loop box 4. set the priority the way you want it. 4 being the higest and 0 being the lowest. Default SL anims run at priority 2 while the gestures run at 3.
For further information on this you can read the big red sticky FAQ at the top of the forum.
