Hello, I downloaded QVAvimator for the MAC and it locks up every time I try to save a file, which is frustrating,as you loose your work. Does this product work? Its dated 12/24/06.

I don't use QAvimator, having another program of choice. (Though I'm tempted to try QAvimator, just to see how it's different, since it's free.)
I know from reading these forums from time-to-time that a lot of people do successfully use QAvimator to make animations for Second Life.
I'd recommend two things while you're waiting for possible answres on this forum. One is to do a search for QAvimator on this forum to see if some common technical problems have been addressed before. You might find your answer on an old thread.
Also, even though I don't use QAvimator, I know that it has some fairly extensive tutorials and help available for it on the web. If you haven't already, start reading through some of the articles located at qavimator.org to see if you can find some answers there.

Thanks, I am using tutorials, but this clearly seems like a fatal defect to me. I can reccreate it consistently.

It works on the pc with WinXP for me. Never tried it on a Mac. You might also try the forums at qavimator.org for any possible fixes.

I check the forums at QAvimator.org. Looks like a lot of people who have MACs have the same issue as me, and others. It appears to be a dead product on the MAC. No promising posts about addressing the issue have been posted, and its been over a year since folks started pointing it out.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're asking about, but a friend of mine who uses QAvimator on a mac says that she has to manually type the file extension to save a bvh file. Until she figured that out, she couldn't save anything with the program.

Yes, when you're saving your animation, name it and manually type the ending .bvh at the end. QAvimator won't do this by itself. If you intend to go back to your animation for editing at a later time, you must save it with the ending .avm instead. You can't edit .bvh files.

From: Calveen Kline If you intend to go back to your animation for editing at a later time, you must save it with the ending .avm instead. You can't edit .bvh files. For me, editing .BVH files is working like a charm in QVAvimator. I'm using the 2007-11-30 version. To ease editing, I have associated the .BVH extension with QVAvimator.exe, so I just click on the file icon to open it for editing. Opening, changing, saving (same or different name) ... everything is working just fine.

it works, but...

I've found the program to work just fine for me on WinXP... except that it has limits set for the allowed angles of movement which I find to be a bit too restrictive.
I have not been able to set it to an akimbo pose (hands on hips) for instance. I have loaded in some of the official default animations which have things of this sort, the idea being to just see what they did, but one touch shoots the arms to the more restricted limits.
I could be missing something, in fact I hope I am, but while the program works okay and I can upload and run animations, I wish I could do something to remove the limitations on motions allowed for each part.

From: Erebus Kaul I wish I could do something to remove the limitations on motions allowed for each part. You need to turn off the Joint Limits option under the Options menu. You are right, QAvimator's joint limits are too restrictive. I never turn that on.
