Qavimator: Animate only arm?

I've seen in the forums people mentioning that BVH files done with Poser can come out with only parts of the AV actually animated. Can the same be done with Qavimator?

Scenario: I've been working on some AV gestures, where the only important thing that moved is the AV's arm/hand. But when I upload the animation to SL, it is animating the whole body. So, if I'm sitting and trigger my animation, my AV appears to stand up and wave. It'd look a lot nicer if only the arm moved so I could appear to remain seated.

I'm using the latest Mac version of Qavimator.

Thanks in advance,

The way this is done with poser or qavimator or any other tool is exactly the same: parts that you don't want to take control of just make sure they don't move at all from frame 1.

So for your arm wave example, make sure only the arm is animated and delete the keyframes for everything else. Then, make sure the priorities are setup right in upload.

Ah ha!

I now understand why it "didn't work" when I thought I had done just what you had said. I started by loading in the default SL stand bvh instead of starting from scratch. It must have every part moved slightly between frame 1 and frame 2.

Re-doing my wave animation starting from scratch, and only touching the hand/arm/shoulder joints gave me the result I wanted.

Thank you!
