Okay - I'm not exactly a chimp when it comes to this sort of thing: I've spent a decade in the special effects field, and while 3D hasn't been my emphasis, I do have a smattering of it. I understand the basics of animation, and a bit beyond (I studied 2d back in the dawn times before computers).
However... Poser just seems to be acting arbitrary and fluttery - nice clean key frames, IK turned off, and yet - bam - smack in the middle of what should be a simple arm rotation, I'm suddenly voguing - sometimes for only a frame. I adjust that frame, and another vogue pops up elsewhere along the line.
I've tried Avimator, and while I haven't noticed this problem as much, it's just kinda clunky. I've dl'd Slat, but so far it's system is a little arcane for intuitive workflow. What I'd really like is to be able to use say Lightwave or Maya (preferably lightwave since it's on my machine here at work), and find some way to translate my animation to bvh (most things don't output bvh since it's the mocap format, and something you read IN to use, before outputting whatever your program's format is.)
I understand Alias' Motion Designer will output bvh, but I know jack-all about it.
So any clues on why Poser is misbehaving? Any workarounds? I've tried "Limits" but it just makes the voguing less extreme - it still allows the radom poses.

From: Seagel Neville Spline interpolation... break spline... Sigh... Animation guideWell, "sigh" aside, thank you. Given there's only 3 pages of animation topics, this can't have been asked too often.

Orion Neville created a great SL rig for Maya. I've only played with it a little bit so far, but it seems to work quite well. Can't help you with Lightwave, sorry. It really hasn't taken off the way Alias had hoped it would, which is unfortunate.

From: Jesse Murdock Motionbuilder RULZ Glad to see there's at least one fan, anyway. As I said, it's unfortunate that it hasn't taken off more widely.
