Many people like the ZHAO - which is free and causes the least amount of lag and takes up very little screen space.
With ao's that you pay for, it really depends on whether you like the interface or not as all ao's are based upon the same open source script by Francis Chang. _____________________

Oh, yeh, the AO software itself is pretty much all the same. I use Franimation 1.6 with some hack to cut down on accidental duckwalking that, myself.
I assumed the OP was asking about the animations themselves. Those are the real distinctive parts. _____________________

Yeah,i know,because i have ZHAO too,and it's not so bed for use,and i agree with you,no much lags with him. |

So, you are looking for animations to put into your AO?
Really, it's a matter of personal taste, so "best" will be different for everyone. Could you describe a little more what style of animations you are looking for? For example, casual, sexy, athletic, innocent, ninja, etc. |

I've been using a variation of the framination script that I stripped out of the wetIkon ao (because it's got lots of junk I didn't need) and then slightly tweaked (changed channels, various other small changes to run faster/smaller).... there were some tests comparisions done on zhao, framination , and another some time back (a year or so?) that came out pretty close on all of them (I think the zhao hud actually edged out smaller).... can't remember if it was on this forum or scripting tips.

Well,i just need a LM,that i can find my ideal AO.So if you have, you can send LM. There is a place called Animation Warehouse where a lot of SL animators have their shops, it would probably be the best place to start. You can find it in Search>All. |

Pretty much all commonly available AOs use the same core code (originating with Franimation Overrider), so any difference between them will be fairly minor, based on whatever chromed features have been added.
That said, the core code is actually overly generic, having configurable lists for something which is hardcoded into the SL platform(!) That means it is constantly hammering lists - which are notoriously slow in LSL - where it could simply fall through a correspondingly hardcoded choice structure. I have my personally coded "lean and mean" AO which does that, and it's running at literally a fraction of the script time of ZHAO. |

Yeah, it's exactly the same thing that Malia suggested. Metaverseink.com is the system that drives Search >> All when you're in world, but you don't have to log on to SL if you just want to do the search on their web site instead. It's handy.

Metaverseink.com is the system that drives Search >> All Metaverseink is a 3rd party web site that is designed to search multiple virtual worlds. They have no special access to grid information, as LL does; instead, they compile their lists by combing the grid with their bots. Here is what Metaverseink says about the types of available search from their "Open Search" front-end web page: Currently the following search engines are supported: * Metaverse Ink Search supports search for products, designers, notecards, places and land for sale. It lists about 2 million products with images, descriptions, and a link directly to the store. There is also support for scripted vendors. This search engine uses a staff of 14 friendly robots to scan the entire grid twice a week, and has a sophisticated ranking system that is very difficult to fool. * Linden Lab Search "All" search provides access to a static view of information from the SL grid. Highlights include search of places, classifieds, profiles, and the SL wiki. * Google Search ... for the ordinary universe. . |

Ah... You're probably right about that. What I should have said is that Metaverseink makes use of the same system that drives Search >> All in SL. The point is that you get exactly the same information on Metaverseink's web site as you get in an in-world search, and in the same format ..... without having to log in to SL.

I'm seeing quite a bit of stale information in that metaverseink search, are their bots still active?

I'm assuming so. I haven't run across anything stale myself, and I use it a fair amount.

Vista.
Smooth animations, expensive but good. The guy manually adjusted and re-uploaded ALL ground sit poses for me to make them fit my short furry shape (so I won't sink into the ground). This I call service. I think that furry ground sit pack is for sale now. _____________________

For me the important part is having an AO that can shuffle through all of my stands. The Huddles handles 25 stands quite well. My ZhaoII however ran out of memory when i was at half that number.

What one thinks is the best someone else may not how about you look about since you are selective.

What one thinks is the best someone else may not how about you look about since you are selective. bla, bla, blaaaaaa This looks like a case of "Captain Obvious vs the Poorly Worded Question". If you're talking about the actual animations, obviously there is no single "the best", since the styles vary wildly, even for something which could be considered "everyday human". There are, of course, animators who are known for making good quality animations, and it is quite common to pick and choose individual animations and assemble your own AO (and for this, the ZHAO-II overrider is widely used and pretty much the standard). Many of the animations in my AO come from Bits and Bobs or Happy Dispatch, so I'd recommend looking there, but it's a bit of a sport for me to check animations, so I have a sprinkling from many different creators. I'm fairly sure Happy Dispatch also sells pre-packaged "full" overriders, if your taste runs to that. As a side note, I use a couple of supposedly "male" walks to get a more relaxed stride than the typical runway sway you see in many female AOs. |
