Hello forum,

I was told that there is a need for animators, in SL, so there is a good market for making animations. Is this true? Do you guys have any tips at all on getting me started to sell animations? I'd be glad for any information you have, as I really don't know how to do this.

Thanks in advance,
Quiryn

First learn how to create them. Then learn how to do it well. If you haven't thrown your computer out the window yet, THEN learn about selling them.

Animating for SL is rather difficult, undervauled and usually underpaid.

Quin - where can I see some samples of your work.

I'm buying animations for Medusa Spa, currently I wonder around looking at what is being used at various locations and if something takes my eye - I check who the designer is and IM them.

You should keep an eye on the "Products wanted" forum thread and the "Employment Ops & Help Wanted" thread. OK the first few jobs wont bring in much but once you have a body of work to prove your ability you should be able to build on it and sell yourself.

As for how you sell yourself, as Luth says, learn how - it is possibly more difficult than actually doing the animations. How do your learn? For a start read some RL marketing and sales books - there are techniques in selling that apply in SL just as much as in RL.

Get yourself known - for instance become an active contributor to the Animation thread helping others where you can - this may seem counter productive but you will get known and people will reference you.

Another way is to write and/or run some interesting tutorials - this all helps you to get known as an expert in the field.

Hope that helps
