Hi.
I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right place, apologies if I'm not.
I'm doing some research into how people use visual information from avatars in SL, using eye tracking techniques. I'm trying to find out if it's possible to programme my avatar's eye movements to look at another avatar in a way that is as realistic as possible, i.e. similar to human looking behaviour. My avatar will be programmed to act as a robot.
Having looked through the forums, I haven't been able to find any information. Is there anyone who knows anything about this, or is doing anything similar?
Thanks.

The only thing I can think of is [alt]+click the avatar you want to follow. I used to do it all the time, still do... As someone was walking around, my eyes and head would follow them around. It's a great way of seriously freaking someone out considering my appearance. Throw in some cannibalistic comments and head-spins and it's a laugh a minute. (^_^)y

The eye movements are under control of the viewer. There is a list of stimuli, their priorities, and linger time that you can edit in character/attentions.xml. There are separate tables for female and male shapes (edit to clarify: that's internal to the viewer, not in the XML), but that feature seems to go unused (same values).
The viewer source can be downloaded, for now that is probably the best guide to exactly when each type of lookat is triggered (grep around for setLookAt).
